However, as soon as you leave the main road, the village reveals itself to be full of charm and well worth a visit.
Located less than 9km from Sion, Vex is built on a relatively steep slope, with a central square at an altitude of 939m. To discover its church with its surprising architecture, its old chalets, its spectacular views of the valley, the Dent Blanche (4,358 metres), the Dent d'Hérens (4,173 metres) and the glaciers, you will have to climb quite a bit, but it is well worth the effort.
You will probably not find any tourist information about the village, which is overshadowed by more famous destinations and the renowned winter sports resorts of the 4 Vallées (Thyon-Les Collons).
Vex is primarily a residential village due to its proximity to Sion and its easy access. Take advantage of this, as you won't encounter hordes of tourists eager to take selfies; you'll have the village (almost) all for yourselves!
