Still mainly agricultural and wine-growing at the beginning of the 20th century, the village is now undergoing major residential development, even though a third of the municipal area is still covered with vineyards.
Grimisuat no longer resembles a typical Valais village. Its architecture is terribly disparate, with many hideous modern buildings. Only the Church of Saint Pancras, standing on the edge of the main road, will make you want to stop there.
But if you take the time to go for a little stroll there, you'll find some lovely surprises...
Our virtual tour takes you on a journey of discovery through the church and its beautiful esplanade, then on to the Old Village Square and the typical medieval Valais castle, before returning to the main road.
A free car park right next to the church allows you to stop and take the time to explore the area at your leisure, without bumping into hordes of tourists at every turn...
