Lausanne
Cathedral of LausanneThis Gothic-style building dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. In the Middle Ages, this Catholic cathedral was called Notre-Dame de Lausanne and was a place of pilgrimage where 70,000 people went each year to venerate a miraculous statue of the Virgin, even though Lausanne only had 7,000 inhabitants. With the Reformation, the cathedral became a Protestant place of worship in 1536.
