Quai des Savoyards (1)

The two-masted sailing ship we see here is the ‘Vaudoise’, one of the last ‘barques du Léman’. These lateen-rigged boats are emblematic of the lake and were used to transport people and goods on Lake Geneva from the 18th century until the First World War. The ‘Vaudoise’ is moored near the monoliths that help identify the prevailing wind thanks to the sculpture ‘Eole’ standing on a breakwater facing the quay.
