Donoussa

East of Naxos, quite isolated, Donoussa is still unknown and authentic, but it will probably not last, because this island has quite a few assets.

It's a mountainous island, so small that you can walk around it in one day (5.31 sq mi). Its main town is the port, Stavros, a small traditional Cycladic village where all rooms for rent are concentrated.

In spite of its isolation, it's quite easily reachable: during the high season, there are almost every day ferries landing there. There is also, from Amorgos and Naxos, a small ferry, the "Express Skopelitis", which serves it (as well as all the other Small Cyclades).

What can you do in Donoussa? Enjoy the beaches of course, but also hike around - just avoid July and August as, even if the island is little known, it's relatively crowded, as all the Greek islands!

North of the island, discover the small fishing port of Kalotaritissa and its beaches. The road leading there offers spectacular views and, in clear weather, you can even see the islands of Patmos and Ikaria in the Dodecanese!

A detailed map of Donoussa, usable without connection, is available in the free guide iNaxos for iPhone and iPad:
